Still one of my favourite. Has anyone the lyrics? That would be great.
Someone should release a remastered version from Edwyns first solo album including the single b-sides as well as a booklet, that tell the story about it (incl. the lyrics).
I'm still not sure which version is better, Paul's or Edwyn's. Anyway - both are great!

AIN'T THAT ALWAYS THE WAY (E. Collins) ©1985
=========================

ain't that always the way
when you're so far gone
there's no turning back
you hit the bottle
then you hit the sack
but the morning is the price you've got to pay
but ain't that always the way

ain't that always the way
when your blue skies turn
to a dirty grey
if you were a bird
you would fly away
but you're subject
to the laws of gravity

(but you're not so you curse
the laws of gravity) alternate lyric on demo/session versions

but ain't that always the way

if you should choose to wear your heart on your sleeve
well let me tell you now there'll be no reprieve

but ain't that always the way

ain't that always the way x4

when you're so far gone
there's no turning back
you hit the bottle
then you hit the sack

when your blue skies turn
to a dirty grey
if you were a bird
you would fly away

fly away x3
oh fly away x2
fly away x3
Frankie – thanks for the lyrics. I think I'll found the chords by myself (it shouldn't be so difficult), then I'll do a cover of the song and post it here ... we will see. Happy holidays anyway (ain't that always the way)!
Martin,
If you do figure out the chords or tab do please post them here. This is also a favourite song of mine,
Best wishes
Ian
Ian,
I hope I've done it right with the chords.

Verse:
C – – – F – – –
C – – – F – – –
C – – – F – – –
d – – – d7 – – –
G – – – ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙
1 C – – – F – – –
2 C – – – C7 – – –

Bridge:
Bb – – – – – – –
C – – – d – – – – – – –
G – – – – – – –

The instrumental part is played to the verse chords, then you play just C and F til the end.
Maybe Edwyn can confirm ...
If anyone is interested, I've added both versions (Edwyn's and Paul's) on My Page for your listening pleasure. Both versions from the original 12".

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
