Home Again has been named one of the 'Albums of the decade'
in the new issue of the excellent The Word magazine.
'One track mind' from the album is also on the cd that comes with the mag.

Here's what they had to say about it....

"A record inseparable from the two brain haemorrhages that struck Collins
in 2005. It was recorded beforehand and mixed afterwards, but was far from
the rock equivalent of a three-legged kitten kept alive only by cooing goodwill.
With its seabirds and ancient stones, here was bewitching Celtic reverie but
also eerie foreboding, the sound of a less mumbingly self-absorbed Van Morrison."

Not that I dislike 'Home Again' but I prefer 'Doctor Syntax' - the great forgotten Edwyn Collins album! It was released in 2002 and therefore qualifies.

I'm afraid I'm so pathetic and obsessive I actually keep year lists scored with a secret arithmetic formula known only to me and the ghostly shade of the horned oracle of Ammon.

I have 'Home Again' at 8 for 2007 and 106 for the decade and 'Doctor Syntax' at 6 for 2002 and 43 for the decade.

As they say in the back courts of Possil, The Drum and possibly even Bearsden - 'gaun yir sel big man'.
Ah, a fellow fan of The Word magazine! They must like Edwyn as he was in the "Cult heroes" issue a few months ago. I meant to scan that interview to put on here but I can't find the magazine now. I must have recycled it! Oh, and Konstantini, I am now hugely intrigued about your secret formula for best albums of the year. I fear we must torture you until you reveal it...

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
