Fantastic news that Edwyn will be playing in Japan in March. Hopefully it will be late in the month, as I won't be around in the early part. And hopfully the shows are being arranged by someone with good taste in venues as well as music. As an organizer of gigs there myself...if I can help out in any way, drop me a message.

Hi Miles

The dates are late in the month, they are as follows. If you can help spread the word - that would be great.

MARCH 2011

23 Osaka www.billboard-live.com

25 Tokyo www.billboard-live.com

The Office Girls

Good news re. the date. I can be there on the 25th.

I must admit, I'd never even heard of Billboard. It's in Roppongi, a distinctly "unpunk" area with lots of bars that are popular with the less cultured Westerners over in Japan...I've only ever been there 3 or 4 times and one was to see an overseas band (Two Lone Swordsmen).

Eeek! £45 - And that's for the cheap "casual (i.e., standing) area on the upper level". Gotta say, the place sounds pretty horrendous to me! (Re. the cost, I should add that The Monochrome Set gigs in Tokyo 2 weeks later are even more expensive!).

Of course, I'll certainly get the word out. I'm a bit worried that the choice of venue will put off the kids and music bods and attract the cocktail set, and it'll be all Armani suits rather than plaid shirts.

hello,

it's been a long time since my last post....

early last year, roddy frame also did his fabulous gigs at the same venue.

yes, it's the very posh? place, but me and many friends had really fun!

you know, most of edwyn's fan are now in their middle age and now it's good to go to see our fave one at the posh venue with a good food & drimks.

the good thing about that venue is that they open later night than many other places.

many people like us, in the mid age, are so busy and work hard every day until late at night.

so they can go to see the gigs at billboard-live because they open late at night.

i hope you can see it. sorry my poor english.

i'm really looking forward to seeing edwyn, grace, will & everyone!

i also have a question...

are you going to sell the things you sell at this cornershop??

i'd like to get some but if you'll sell them here in tokyo, i'll wait.

thanx x

Hello

Roddy thought the venue was great so it comes highly recommended.

We will be bringing the cornershop with us -  is there anything in particular that you would like?

thank you for your reply!

i thought an e-mail would tell me when i get replyed but no e-mail come.

sorry i can't come here so often.

about the cornershop, i'd love to get the tote bag and tthe brithsh bird book in paticular.

i've already got the drum cat t-shirt which a friend of mine bought for me in london.

most of fans'd really love to get the drum cat shirts!!!  they should go away sooon.

thanks a lot xox

I'm middle aged myself - the last time I saw Edwyn was at Union Chapel; it was a Saturday night as I remember we drove back from the football in Wolverhampton and went straight to the gig! - and while some venue's  (Shelter, 20,000V, Cyclone) can be a bit too dark, down and dirty and I guess somewhere like UFO/Que would be too small I would have been happier with some kind of middle ground. Star Lounge (where The Stingrays played recently...they were awful though), Quattro, Doors, Area, or O-West/O-East maybe? An extra low profile show in somewhere like Smokin Boogie would be cool!

What time do the artists normally play at Billboard as I will need to catch a train back to Yokohama?

you look punk!  do you live in japan?

i hardly go to the gigs for these 10 years and i've been to shelter, 20000V, Que, Quattro, O-west/O-east, but never been to cyclone and doors... etc.

on weekday the 1st gig at billboard tokyo will open 17:30 +start 19:00 and  the 2nd one will open 20:45+start 21:30.

the 2nd one will end around 23:00. you don't have to ruch to the station to go back to yokohama.

I don't really "live" in Japan. I guess I've been a sort of part-time resident having spent about 50% of the last 5 years in Japan, in 2~6 month spells. When I'm there I usually go to 2 or 3 gigs a week; in a busy period I can sometimes manage 5 or 6!

I guess I didn't look properly, and didn't realise there would be two shows. Providing I have the funds, I'll probably plump for the early one to be on the safe side.

Hi,

I am planing to go to the Tokyo gig. I currently live in Taiwan and I will hop over to Japan for an extended weekend of shopping and gigging.

Unfortunatelly I cant read japanese and I wonder if any of the japanese readers could assist me in make a booking for the concert. I randomly clicked and it looked like there were 2 sets that evening, one starting 19:30 another one 21:00. - did I get that right?

And anyone happen to know where I can find an English-language website which I could order the tickets from?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Mike

Yes, seems like their will be two shows, but it doesn't appear that tickets are actually on sale yet, and when they are I doubt you will be able to purchase them from outside of Japan.

Having never been to Billboard I can't say this for sure, but my guess is this will not sell out and you will be able to pay on the door. I almost never buy tickets in advance for gigs in Japan, where they have a most convenient system that allows you to reserve tickets with the bands themselves and then pay the cheaper advance price on the door at the same time guaranteeing you a ticket. However, I think this system doesn't apply in this case. I will try to keep abreast of the situation and if the shows do look like selling out will post here.

On an unrelated note, I just uploaded to Photos some snaps I took of the OJ's 30 years ago! Enjoy!

Hi Miles,

thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. On one I hand I would hope its a sell out show for Edwyn on the other hand I hope it wont - so I will have a chance to get a ticket on the door. Even thinking of attending both shows...

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
