Miles,
I have booked my flight and hotel for Tokyo! Any news on how crowded this will be?
And once in Tokyo (I arrive March 24) can I still buy a ticket on pre-sale or do I have to go to the doors for ticket on the night?
I guess I will be in the record shops around Shibuya, do they sell tickets?
Thanks again for your help:o)
Mike
Will try and find out.
No, I doubt you'll be able to buy tickets from record shops like Disc Union; they only tend to sell tix for select shows. Also it doesn't seem you can buy from Lawson ticket machines, which is what I use if I ever need an advance ticket for a gig. There are ticket shops in Shibuya but it would be pot luck if they had any tickets.
Having never been to Billboard I don't know how they operate. Maybe it's possible to reserve a ticket by phone and pay upon arrival. If so, I can try and reserve one in your name.
If you're looking for a gig on the 24th, excellent young punky-new wave girl band Matasita 89 are playing at Shinjuku Jam. How long are you staying for?
I will arrive 24. around noon, so yeah, sounds like a nice gig which I should attend. Im booked in a hotel close to Shinjuku Station, sounds Shinjuku Jam is not too far away. I will leave again on sunday around noon. So any recommendation for saturday as well? I miss seeing live bands since here in Taiwan the music scene is not really too lively.
Would you happen to know if Apple Crumble Records shop is still existing in Shibuya?
Cheers
Mike
Which hotel are you staying in? I'll give you directions to Jam.
On Saturday I may go and see Sutcliffe Jugend (ex-Whitehouse from UK, so I'm guessing experimental/Industrial noise) + Pain Infant at Earthdom.
An alternative would be Young Parisian (glam) + The Gimmies (Detroit style punk rock) + Rangsteen at UFO Club, and Matasita 89 are at Daisy Bar in case you miss them on Thursday.
I never heard of Apple Crumble before but it seems they are now only a webshop.
I am in Shinjuku Washington Hotel (Main Tower), thats basically directly connected to the Shinjuku Station via underground walk.
Ex-Whitehouse sounds a bit too noisy and industrial for my taste, I saw that Tahiti 80 will be playing. I might see them (Yokohama Bay Hall??). Or maybe Matasita 89 are that good so I want to em twice..:o)
I have been to the Apple Crumble shop some years ago but I think the girl who ran it got sick and does mail order only, what a pitty.
I know the Shinjuku Washington. It's on the other side of the station to Jam. Easily walkable though...I'll give you directions, as I know how difficult it can be to find venues if you don't know where they are, though getting to Jam is pretty straightfwd.
Yeah, ex-Whitehouse is really too noisy for me as well, but I saw Whitehouse once back in the early 80's (when people fled from the gig in terror as the band physically launched into them!) and once again in the 90's, so for old times' sake and for something a bit different I'll probably go.
Sorry, I don't know Tahiti 80, and even though I'm based in Yokohama I've never been to Bay Hall...it's in a rather inconvenient location to say the least, and is not my kind of place, I think.

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made. Here is the result: Mill Mechanics
Thanks for that.

Dear Edwyn,
Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.
I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
