I don't know if everybody on here is subscribed to the Rip It Up group but I've read some interesting bits on there about the box set. It started as a discussion on what was missing from the box set including the Janice Long session that we know about. Mentioned were The Nu-Sonics "I Don't Care" and "Who Are The Mystery Girls?", various 7 inch versions, the 12 inch version of "I Can't Help Myself" and the 2nd dub version of "A Place In My Heart" (from an NME tape apparently).

Here's a quote from RobF -

"OK Kris got back to me very quickly and confirmed that the 2nd Dub version
of Place In My Heart was deliberately left off for space reasons (and the
fact it's not hugely different to Dub #1)

However he also says that the discs are full because there will be some
hidden surprises in there (like the Nu-Sonics stuff on Glasgow School /
Heather's On Fire) and that there will also be some free downloads of
"cutting room floor" stuff for fans in the run up to release (and that other
dub mix is one of them)"

He also confirmed via Kris at Domino that 7" edits that were just shortened edits of 12" versions had been deliberately left off.

Can anyone shed any light on the 12 inch version of "I Can't Help Myself" being on the box set. It was on the original 12" so thought it would make it. I've digitized my vinyl copy of it either way!

That quote above has actually made me more excited about this box set and I didn't think that was possible!

Matt

Oh, one more thing - how big is the box set going to be? Is it going to be one of those long rectangular ones or a more chunky CD size? Cheers.

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
