Hi guys

I'm in the middle of collecting all information on Orange Juice via the web and articles etc so I can build a definitive OJ website.

The site will contain biog, discography, lyrics, videos, streaming audio, articles/interviews, reviews AND a definitive list of gigs that OJ played! This has never been done as far as I know and i'd like to have a bash at it!

* BOOTLEGGED SHOW

If anyone can fill in the blanks or add some dates for me then i'd be most grateful!

I also plan to have unofficial bootlegs of OJ and radio-sessions streaming on my site - so far I have both Kid Jensen radio sessions, the John Peel ones, a John Peel session from 1981 with Edwyn having a chat and playing "new single" Poor Old Soul, the Mike Read session, full OJ gig at London Lyceum 1983, the three tracks from Glasgow Pavillion gig given away free on tape with What Presence ?! 7"

I have some tracks from the Stirling University gig and one from a Keele gig - would obviously love to get the rest - I know of a handful of other bootlegs floating about - any details would be great.

I'd also like to investigate on how we'd go about getting all the OJ albums put up on iTunes so peeps can buy em??? It's utterly criminal that they are out of print!!

I just want OJ to have a proper and definitive website - there's precious few things scattered about everywhere on blogs etc and it'd be great to have them in one place :-)

Jamie

There are some links on this site http://www.texasfever.net/ including the ripitup yahoo group which may help to fill in the gaps. You`ve got some great stuff there already though!

Don`t think the `texas fever` site is up and running at mo but the yahoo group is fairly active.
Hi Jamie - seems like a good idea ; I'm glad you think it's worth putting the time into. First thing that springs to mind is that they did a whole tour supporting the Undertones in 1980 (you've listed the Nottingham gig). I think I've got some diaries from the time somewhere - I'll try and find them.
best of Luck....M
Thanks Malcolm! What a ledge!

I was going to pester you actually and ask what gig it was you taped OJ that finished up on Felicity Flexi Sessions - The Formative Years?... - I've heard it was either Edinburgh, Teviot Row or the Glasgow, Square Theatre gig?

How's it going with the Low Miffs? Very eager to hear that!
Ahh!

Got the full Undertones support tour dates via http://www.theundertones.com/__/Shows_1976-1983.html

08/12/80 Lancaster, University
09/12/80 Glasgow, Tiffanys
11/12/80 Nottingham, Rock City
12/12/80 Hull, City Hall
14/12/80 Southampton, Gaumont
15/12/80 London, Hammersmith Palais
16/12/80 London, Hammersmith Palais
22/12/80 Belfast, Ulster Hall
23/12/80 Belfast, Ulster Hall

Great!
OJ's bottled out of the Belfast dates on that Undertones tour (those were different times), also there was a JK/OJ gig at the ICA on the way back from that Brussels gig - think it was maybe Jan 4th 1981. The gig I recorded at Teviot row was the 1st one.
Album with Low Miffs should be out in September - I'm delighted with it.
best
M
Cheers for the dates Malcolm and come down to London with the Miffs soon!

Edwyn - nae joy! Sitting on a bus from London to Glasgow is bad enough without (a) it being winter and (b) being sat next to a honking guy!
Oh Jamie, it's Grace here. I posted the one about the smelly guy. Sometimes I forget I'm on Edwyn's page! I'll identify myself in future.

The Liverpool gig at Platos Ballroom aka Mr Pickwicks was 31/08/81 with support from The Pale Fountains and The Wild Swans. (Incidently, The Wild Swans are reforming this month for 2 gigs in Liverpool)
Thanks Doris! It's added

Grace - no sweat!
In addition to the 3/31/83 gig at the lyceum, i saw Orange juice play at:

Oxford Polytechnic in May 1984,
Reading University in June/July 84,
a free festival in Crystal Palace in August/Sept 84
& Chippenham Golddiggers in October/November 84 on the artisans tour.

Sorry, I wish I could be more specific with the dates.
The Leeds Warehouse gig was 20/08/81. I have a bootleg tape of the gig so will get it mp3ed and put it on here.

 Hello DF,

Do you still have that bootleg tape of the Leeds 20/08/81 gig?

Thank you.

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
