Hi guys

I'm in the middle of collecting all information on Orange Juice via the web and articles etc so I can build a definitive OJ website.

The site will contain biog, discography, lyrics, videos, streaming audio, articles/interviews, reviews AND a definitive list of gigs that OJ played! This has never been done as far as I know and i'd like to have a bash at it!

* BOOTLEGGED SHOW

If anyone can fill in the blanks or add some dates for me then i'd be most grateful!

I also plan to have unofficial bootlegs of OJ and radio-sessions streaming on my site - so far I have both Kid Jensen radio sessions, the John Peel ones, a John Peel session from 1981 with Edwyn having a chat and playing "new single" Poor Old Soul, the Mike Read session, full OJ gig at London Lyceum 1983, the three tracks from Glasgow Pavillion gig given away free on tape with What Presence ?! 7"

I have some tracks from the Stirling University gig and one from a Keele gig - would obviously love to get the rest - I know of a handful of other bootlegs floating about - any details would be great.

I'd also like to investigate on how we'd go about getting all the OJ albums put up on iTunes so peeps can buy em??? It's utterly criminal that they are out of print!!

I just want OJ to have a proper and definitive website - there's precious few things scattered about everywhere on blogs etc and it'd be great to have them in one place :-)

Hi guys

Got back from my holidays this week - loads of updating to do!

Cheers for everyone's input!

I'll get cracking!

jamie
OK - all done - thanks again guys! Please let me know of any mistakes i've made - or anymore to add!

To all the folks offering bootlegs - i'm still working on the audio side of the site - but I hope to have some sort of 'streaming - jukebox' of all the available bootlegs - i'll send y'all a message when i'm on course!

jamie
Jamie,

Mine are on good old audio tapes. Fall Net offers a service converting tapes into cds. I also have some ticket stubs, gig ads and concert reviews (although these are I understand subject to copyright).

Colin
I have a cd burner in my audio stack, so I can, and will convert any bootlegs for ya.
OJ played the Brixton Ace Cinema (along with Orchestre Jazira) on the 11th of November (not sure about the year '82, maybe 83). The gig was apparently filmed for a Channel 4 show called Whatever You Want.

 Hi Mike,

Is your copy of the Retford Porterhouse gig sourced from .mp3 files?

Hi I'm a newbie. OJ played at the Leeds Poly in 81 or 82 supported by the Go-Betweens to a very small crowd. I was 14 and it was my first gig ever. Happy Days. I've still got the poster somewhere, will try and find it and confirm date.
OJ supported Scars at Clouds, Edinburgh on Thurs 20th March 1980, with Chaos first on the bill. I also saw OJ at The Netherbow, Edinburgh (possibly supporting Josef K?) late '79/early '80. It was a tiny little seated theatre and I remember EC's hand visibly shaking before they started their first song!
Edwyn was talking about how bad his stage nerves were in the early days. He was a funny mixture of self belief and low self confidence, almost stage shyness, back then, he says.
Jamie

I saw OJ at Lancaster University (The Sugar House) in December (possibly November) 1982, supported by a girl-duo band (which, based on others' replies may have been called Strawberry Switchblade). I'm not sure of the exact date though.

Good luck

Stuart
Excellent! Thanks again guys - will update post soon... :-)

Jamie
Good luck getting the site together. It will be hard given it all happened before the net. I also saw OJ play at the "Tav Bar" of the Dundee University Student Union, hard to say when ( I was there from 1979 to 1984. I am not sure if Paul Quinn had a hand in persuading them to play there, as he was a student there at the time.

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
