Permalink Reply by Craig Fryatt on April 15, 2011 at 11:34 Hi Jamie
Do you have any bootlegs of OJ or Edwyn at all?
Permalink Reply by Lindo on March 15, 2012 at 13:23 Wow! God bless your archive Jamie. Have seen Edwyn solo countless times, but only once got to see the Juice a-juicin' up the house in concert.
That was at, as you rightly record: 28TH APRIL - ESSEX, UNIVERSITY
A life changing event for me, aged about 13 or so, I can tell you. My tunes, my clothes, my understanding of pop culture, my hair (that one never worked: a curlytop lad can never really win the struggle for a decent quiff, though god knows I tried) were never the same again.
I remember Edwyn introducing I Guess I'm Just a Little Too Sensitive as a Smiths cover or something more elegantly quipped along those lines. From thereon in it was bye-bye indie, hello chooglin. He also said at one point that last time they'd played Colchester it had "been full of Bauhaus fans". Yikes!
It was one of the greatest nights in my pop life.
I think some of that spirit is still present in the snap of me taken yesterday in a dusty 24-hr games arcade in Nanjing where I'd rocked up at a loose end, and discovered - oh sweet baby jesu - a drumming game. I was only customer, so pic taken by sweet teen night-shift attendant. Needless to say we both had a few goes.
Love atcha
