Hey, everyone... it's Kris from Domino Records working with Edwyn and Grace on an archival release for Orange Juice and I'm looking for a high quality recording of Orange Juice's Janice Long Session from '83.  The BBC have been most helpful in securing the rest, but sadly, this one is missing from their tape library.  So, anyone out there that might have a quality recording of it, please get in touch with me at gillespie@dominorecordco.com.

all the best,

This request made it onto the Peel mailing list and Ken Garner the author of The Peel Sessions and In Session Tonight made the comment:

This was actually on Janice's first ever R1 show, live from Manchester in 83, medium wave only, Saturday nights. The chance of an off air tape turning up is therefore very remote. But the producer, of both the session and the show, was John Leonard, who is of course now MD of smooth operations in Manchester, so it is just possible - but also highly unlikely - that he might personally have kept a master copy. Domino Records should get on to him anyway as a courtesy, if nothing else
Hi,

I guess that since you seek all the radio sessions for the box set, you have already compiled all the Bovell dubs, including two A Place In My Heart dubs (the 2nd on a compilation cassette)?

I am really looking forward to this release!
I think you'll be pleased with the end result. ;-)
Yes! I've seen the track list. It seems you've done a very fine job!
Have you sorted this? What tracks were on the show? I've a load of cassettes I could go through,I know I've a cassette of early demos/mixes for "Hide Your Love Forever",the Teviot Row gig,"50 Shades Of Blue" demo and various others.
No, upon further investigation and explanation, it makes sense as to why the BBC in London didn't have the master reels on this. Apparently, it was from a time before Janice's show was on BBC in London and broadcast on medium wave/AM signal.

But, if happen to have them, I'd love a copy of it. We're going to be giving away some special tidbits leading up the release of the box set in November.

all the best,

KCG

p.s. the tracks would have been Lovesick, Flesh Of My Flesh, Rip It Up from March of 1983.

Ten years later...an update. Think the JL session that is being talked about here was Dec 1982 and there was another session March 1983 when Janice was on the weekday tea time slot.  tracks: Bridge, rip It up, Tender Object. No idea when/where recorded!

I feel really very happy to have seen your this post and look forward to read so many more interesting post here.

Yes, this is a good post without any doubt. You really do a great job for a cheap foundation repair contractor near me.

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
