I like it, but I have spoken to quite a few who are nonplussed.
Is this a sample or a tad more than that?
a tad more than a sample ... me and my 14 year old boy av fought over this !!! ha ha ha ...
I've got to quite like it. All sweet as far as the sample thing goes.
I don't like it really, in a way it sounds cheap. It may be interesting to work with this sample - but if you know the original, you're waiting for the saxophon solo at the end of the song. This song by Beverly Knight lacks every tension ...
I accidentally heard this today on the Terry Wogan show. Honestly, it was accidental. I'd forgotten to tune the set back to our household's default setting of Radio 4 after grabbing a bit of Radcliff & Maconie the night before. Turned on the radio this morning and there it was.
I think they use the sample(s) quite well, bringing the drums & the bass in and out etc at different points, but the actual song's pretty poor.
Reminds me of that Hippy Chick track by Soho back in the 90's that sampled How Soon Is Now? and started off exactly the same as the original. For years afterwards I'd be thrilled to hear the duggada-duggada-duggada guitar coming through the speakers only to be let down big time when the crappy Soho breakbeat came wibbling in.
On a slightly different tack, I always LOVED the 12" Punk Club version of Rip It Up. Was that a demo, a live in the studio take or what?

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

Thank you for the music

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
