Read this this morning on a football website - which spurred me to join this site. (Kano is a Scotsman in Australia who is battling a serious illness. There are some events taking place in Scotland in support of him and his family.)..........
"Wee thought for Kano and his friends and family. Last night I was lucky enough to get into a packed pub in Glasgow to see a free gig by the marvellous Edwyn Collins. You just want to take a look at the recovery he has made from two near-fatal haemorrhages to see what a difference positivity and support can make. Sure, he looks and sounds a different man now. But then he sings the songs he wrote 20, 30 years ago, and it's, just for those three-minute bursts, like none of this ever happened to him. There's hope to be found all over the place, and although his life is immeasurably different, it's still a marvellous life, full of belief and hope and the things that mattered before."
thanks Barry for the pics, vids, and setlist!
setlist is something like... 'the very best of'' or 'essencial hits'
both of edwyn and TFC are my favourite and perfect conbination!
Yes, TFC were perfect! it was very happy to see them together.
the followings are from TFC message board;;
For those who didn't make the more acoustic pre-gig gig at Trongate 103, the set list there was:
Falling and Laughing
Hope and Despair
Rip It Up
I'm Losing Sleep
A Girl Like You
I managed to capture the set apart from "Make Me Feel Again", when I accidentally pressed "stop" button and "I'm Losing Sleep" when my batteries died. A YouTube search for "geomck Edwyn Collins" will bring all of mine up.
Another YouTube poster "supermiffy" has posted "Make Me Feel Again" (apart from the outro).
I'm not sure if anyone has posted "I'm Losing Sleep", which is a shame, because it was brilliant.
Grace - I know the guy who was doing the semi-pro video shooting. His results should be pretty impressive. If you don't have his contact details, just let me know.
There is all the stuff on youtube but there was some semi-pro footage done too. The TFC lads and I will sort out the best way to disseminate it. We hope the TFC will join us in the studio before too long...
My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...
A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue
Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.
I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
