Title: Edwyn and Grace do litrachur at Latitude dontcha know...

http://www.uncut.co.uk/blog/index.php?blog=11&p=1256&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

This was rather fun. A first for us both. Grace was quite scared, but we pulled it off. A lovely crowd in the literature tent, just before the thunder storm began. We got a tremendous soaking trying to get back to the car. I'm not keen on camping, you see! We stayed in Lavenham, an hour away, in a charming B&B, as we… Continue

My weekend

Back home in Kilburn after a tremendous weekend. T in the Park was crazy. I loved it. Alex and Nick from Franz Ferdinand joined Malcolm and I, we did Sorry for Laughing, the Josef K song, which Malcolm wrote. It was for BBC 3, you can still see it on the i Player. I met so many people, did sessions, interviews. The show was wonderful for me, a great crowd who gave us such a reception. Singing along, all that. Love to the Maccabees, they were telling me that they were listening to Orange Juice… Continue

Grace's book, in today's Telegraph magazine

Posted on June 27, 2009 at 10:25 13 Comments

Falling and Laughing, Grace's book, there are extracts in today's Telegraph Magazine. Oh how exciting! Here's my review of the book. Not bad for a beginner.
No, I must admit, I'm proud of her, it's a jolly good read. Seb found it hard to read, about my hospital experience and all that, but it's funny too. I've had a funny life.
Cheerio,
Edwyn

tremendous euphoria

How are you friends? Do you like my new site? I'm learning it myself. I'm perking up today after my day at the Ivors. I experienced tremendous euphoria. I won! What do you think about that? I'm playing an acoustic gig in Perth tomorrow night. I'll send a report and some film of it. I'm experimenting with my site.
Cheerio for now
Love Edwyn

Hi Edwyn,

Re: The possibilities are endless.

On my first visit to see you in hospital, less than three weeks after that dreadful Sunday when you had your stoke, you looked at me and said, without prompting, "Robert". I was with Seb, and to the best of my recollection, you exchanged some words with him too. I remember as we were leaving, I was standing and I held your right hand, looked you in the eyes and said "The possibilities" to which you replied, by way of interruption "Are endless." This resonated with me and gave me hope as it was a clear indication that your mind was active and very much there, in the moment.

The range of your vocabulary, immediately following your stroke, was broader than is often quoted in the press, as in, for example, the following article: http://tinyurl.com/cnk34ej

Cheers,

Robert

Hi Edwyn,  just been listening to your own / Orange Juice songs again and updating my collection. Takes me back!  The M&S advert sound track came up in a conversation with a friend Sheila Ferguson. We were reminiscing about our days at Glasgow Parks at the top of Buchanan Street in the late 70s. She remembers you well!  She was a graphic designer just out of the School of Art. You were doing wildlife illustration, if I recall. Lots very 'interesting'  colleagues.  I was more on the landscape side. We have followed your ups and downs since,

You and grace are a real inspiration.

Ok, so I see you're jetting off to USA and Japan. Why not have a wee stop over in Australia. We have sun, sand and birds. Grace could have a little rest and eat cakes and shop, you could give us a tune! Come on you know you want to ......... RX

Hi Edwyn

I have just finished 'Laughing and Falling' (blooming brilliant) and watched the Home Again documentary and your performance at Brudenell Road in Leeds. That sounds a bit stalkery!! Isn't your Grace a smiley lovely?  My husband is fond of singing 'Girl like You' at me - it's kind of one of our special tunes. I teach yoga up north with several students recovering from stroke so I was really interested in how hard you have been working on your recovery. How can I get in touch with your yoga teacher - is it Stewart? He might be able to give me some tips to help my folk up here!

Love Kath

Great album - such fresh tunes and "searching for the truth" is beautiful. Been a fan ever since a mate introduced me to "Falling & Laughing" in the early 80s. Loved the remix of "I Can't Help Myself", got all the solo albums, but took me until the Leeds Cockpit gig in '08 or was it '07 to finally see you and I wasn't disappointed. A truly memorable night. Looking forward to the Manchester gig. Thanks for your great music and inspiration. Rob

I want to say loads of things, fan stuff and then feel silly. Lets just say as a teeanager in the 80's your music meant alot to me, and as an adult you and your wife's strength and dynamics have meant something more profound. Thank you for that.
Hatt
PS sorry for the PS being about the music, I know thats the important bit for you rather than the slushy fan stuff; but your voice still takes me back even if its new stuff; you've kept true to yourself xx
