...I am back for one last time; I promise to get lost after this.

Well I never; my post got picked up all over the place, The Beeb (and thanks to Stuart and Mark on BBC Radio 2 for the support and wisdom) , The Guardian, lots of others. Several US sites where many people offered to support me if I SUED, which is, I suppose, the American way. But I've been down that road before and it's a long and hard one, especially in the US and France. You may have right on your side, but it's the system that often wins in the end and it sucks the life blood from you. It's easier in the UK somewhat, but we'll see. I pick my battles carefully. Edwyn and I are loving our life together since he has pushed back the shades of illness and I'm not about to let some old music business nonsense get in the way of that.
However, whaddaya know? After 30 odd fruitless emails, A Girl Like You is now available in full on the myspace player! So, todays lesson is simple:
THE MOST POWERFUL DEPARTMENT IN ANY ORGANISATION IS THE PRESS OFFICE.
The whole sad world runs scared of bad publicity, especially from a righteous source like Edwyn Collins.
Warner Music Group has no connection with Edwyn whatsoever and yet they are still corporately arrogant enough to steal Edwyn's copyright and God knows what else from others. A guy from myspace advised me to treat their copyright department with kid gloves if I wanted a result. It didn't work. If the shoe was on the other foot they'd have been down on us like a ton of bricks. The next time a major tries to take ANYONE to court for copyright infringment, I'm volunteering my services as a witness for the defense. What's sauce for the goose....

It looks like Cath Carroll is having a similar problem with uploading her own material to Myspace - some tune that was once briefly licensed to WMG. Not sure if you know Cath (didn't she wrte for the NME back in the day?) but you may be able to give her some advice!

Good to hear the battle victorious, now for the war!

I love the notion of you appearing as a witness to demonstrate the thefts perpetrated by WB and the major labels themselves. What a poke in the eye that would be! I can understand your hesitation about launching a legal action, these things can become nothing but a contest of who is prepared to drown the other in costs and bullshit rather than a search for truth and justice.

Those of you who follow Edwyn on Twitter are probably already aware of his impeccable and very eclectic taste in music. For my own and your listening pleasure I've compiled playlists on Spotify of the "tweeted" songs. There are 14 playlists at the moment, each one covering 2-3 months worth of "tweets". Use the link below or search for Edwyn Collins-Twitter Tunes in Spotify. There might be problems with certain songs missing due to regional musical rights . I've only accessed Spotify…

Shareefa Energy – ‘Reasoning With Self’ - Review

A few months ago the BBC offered a profile of new emerging female poets, ‘Women Who Spit’. Watching the short films by Jemima Foxtrot, Cecilia Knapp and Deanna Rodger, I noted with great relief that the art of poetry is alive and well. I have always been fascinated by the medium. The ability to express intricate thoughts and feelings in a few lines of words. It is the most empowering process. And empowerment through self-expression… Continue

Dear Edwyn,

Can I just thank you for your contribution to my life. From that very first shiver I got listening to Felicity on the John Peel Show to the smile I still express today when you burst into laughter half way through Consolation Prize, it's important I let you know how much your music means to me before one of us croaks it.

I was hooked instantly and bought all the singles and albums, the ten inches, 12 inches and even ripped the flexi discs off Smash Hits and Melody…
