Edwyn performs AGLY live on the Conan O'Brien show, 1995. Paul Cook on drums, Clare Kenny on bass, Steve Skinner on guitar. Plus a strange interview with Conan.

I love this clip. I'm very fond of Conan, & the idea of Conan & Collins sounds like the greatest double act. Both lanky, with great quiffs too.

The Conan Show sees me sporting a Black Hawk/White Loafer/White Slacks/Kenny's Leather Jacket combination.
Very strange - where was our wardrobe mistress that night?

Hello Edwyn
I was always a bit of a 'softie' when it came to guitars. My Strat and Les Paul had very low actions whereas you prefered the tonal qualities offered by higher actions, heavy strings and 'manly' plectrums. Your Gretsch was a beautiful guitar - in your hands not mine. Your solos were very powerful. You even made the wrong notes sound right.
I remember having to play 50 Shades of Blue (capo), Dying Day and Salmon Fishing in New York on your lovely Fender 12 String. Now that was a challenge.
Best Wishes to you, Grace and William.

Hello Konstantini and Seasons Greetings from a very cold Yorkshire

I would say I was 'wrestling' Edwyn's Black Hawk as opposed to playing it.
That guitar was a real beast and could only be tamed by Edwyn.
His Telecaster was my favourite guitar. It was....er....versatile.

If you have 2 that's about 0.5% of all the Black Hawks ever made!

Thanks for sating my curiosity, I'm afraid I consider guitars as...well, fetish objects....

Is Steve Skinner playing Edwyn's old Gretsch Black Hawk in this vid?

It might seem an odd thing to ask but I consider Edwyn's old Gretsch Black Hawk as a national heirloom like the Stone of Destiny or the Scottish crown jewels.
