Currently reading `The Peel Sessions` by Ken Garner. Wonderful book with a bit on the OJ session from 1980.
`Edwyn Collins remembers Orange Juice recording `Falling and Laughing` at breakneck speed compared with the Postcard single and Polydor album versions. I don`t know why that was. I think it was because we were very enthused to be doing our first Peel session. The producer John Sparrow suggested I sing `Poor Old Soul` through the megaphone. He thought it sounded like a Twenties song, a Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah band kind of song. I don`t know where that guy`s head was at! Afterwards, when our single `Blue Boy` appeared, we were invesitgated for fraud by the Social Security in Glasgow, They`d gathered together a lot of press cuttings - and taped this Peel session as evidence!`
I wonder if they still have those cuttings?!
