Deaf Institute Gig

Hi Edwyn, Grace and all who were there on tuesday night! Just to say thanks for a fantastic gig.
We had been looking forward to seeing you for so long and as ever you didn't disappoint.
Great venue, great, great tunes and great to meet you after as well. It was an absolute honour and thrill.
Photos and signings will be treasured.
Don't forget to come back to Cork someday soon. Drinks are on us.

Seán and Christine.

Edwyn Collins & 1990's at Helmsdale

The town of Helmsdale is situated in the county of Sutherland. It's a pretty tourist town and I particularly like the harbour. The locals are friendly which is what you would expect for any northern Scottish town, and the local pubs are also what you would expect (not surprisingly the gaffer of one pub we frequented knew the owners of our local in Groats which is more than 60 miles away!!).

Anyway, off with my tourist board head (although I would… Continue

Falling and LAughing... Excellent Book

I am loving Falling and LAughing. Its very well written. Grace Maxwell you've got great style and I like the points that you made-especially as I hope to train as a speech therapist. There is a real searing honesty and strength to your account. I'm glad you wrote it. I think its great. I'm going to be at Deaf Institute Oct 27th, and if it is not annoying for you, will hope to ask you to sigh it. Hope that is ok. All good wishes from Robin Brunskill (voice artist) www.robinbrunskill.com PS We met… Continue

...I am back for one last time; I promise to get lost after this.

Well I never; my post got picked up all over the place, The Beeb (and thanks to Stuart and Mark on BBC Radio 2 for the support and wisdom) , The Guardian, lots of others. Several US sites where many people offered to support me if I SUED, which is, I suppose, the American way. But I've been down that road before and it's a long and hard one, especially in the US and France. You may have… Continue

Read the book, love the new song, can't wait for Bloomsbury!

Dear Edwyn and Grace,

I finished the book at last and just wanted to say what an unexpectedly uplifting experience it is. A lovely piece of writing Grace, and some great quotes from Edwyn and Will made me feel involved without intruding, if that makes sense?

The new track I'm Losing Sleep is great Edwyn, any more up your sleeve and is it part of your live set? Talking of which, I cant wait to see the show on Nov 7th at Bloomsbury Theatre. A weekend in London topped off with seeing you… Continue

Restoration

I've just finishing the best book I've read in years.Desperately sad yet full of smiles.I rediscovered Edwin's wonderful music again and listened to Home Again with a different ear.I would like to thank Grace for finding the words to describe such a difficult time.Having family and friends around you must have been an enourmous strength to both of you.I hope to hear plenty more of Edwins great music and lyrics. If the book hadn't been a library book,I'd have passed it on to friends and… Continue

Punk, Orange Juice & John o' Groats

This is my first post as I only joined this morning, so hello to everyone and I'm really happy to be part of an online community that appreciates the work (and sheer grit) of Edwyn Collins.

This is also my first blog ever, so excuse me if I overstretch myself and end up talking bollox. It's a weird thing to do, expecting someone else to be remotely interested in your life. It's like doing a video journal/diary and having to talk into a camera. It can be awkward. I tried it earlier in… Continue

This evening we found out what it would be like to be blind.

I always like to make a fuss of my Jean on her birthday so today I treated her to dinner at Dans Le Noir in Clerkenwell Green. The clue to this posting lies in the restaurant's name; when you eat you are, quite literally, in the dark.

Because Dans Le Noir is a blind restaurant. As well as providing some great food, it is a place with a purpose. It gives customers a chance to confront head on one of our greatest fears, that of losing our sight.

Upon arrival, we were asked… Continue

riposte continues...

....part 2...

Andrew Loog Oldham said that getting ripped off (by the industry) was your entrance fee to the music business of the sixties, so get over it. He’s right and things have not changed. We are very over it, but nonetheless aware of who the biggest bootleggers around are. It’s not the filesharers. Personally, we’ve always loved bootlegs. Even when Edwyn was really skint at the fag end of the eighties, I remember being in Camden market and seeing some tapes of a couple of his… Continue

My riposte to the Featured Artists Coalition's statement......part 1

I lost it a bit today when I read this...The Air Statement

So this is what I wrote on their website...

I am Edwyn Colllins manager. Let me tell you a story. At the beginning of this year I noticed that Edwyn’s myspace had gone bit wonky and I tried to upload the tracks back on to the music player. His most famous track, which he owns the copyright in, as he does for most of the music he’s recorded in his life (preferring to go it alone than have his music trapped “in perpetuity”… Continue

Earshot Session

Hi Edwyn

I was going through an old box of tapes and came across a radio session you did for a show called Earshot in 1992. I think the show was for BBC radio Scotland but was also broadcast to the nation on Radio five in it's early days when they played music in the evening. The session was to promote the release of Ostrich Churchyard & you performed a wonderful acoustic session of three songs, Consolation Prize, Graciously and Felicity. Between songs you were interviewed by the… Continue

How to Write a Book Review?

Posted by monica jesvina on July 24, 2019 at 10:00 0 Comments

Composing a book review is not equivalent to composing a book report or a synopsis. A book review is a basic examination of a published work that surveys the work's qualities and shortcomings. An unmistakable commentator can majorly affect a book's gathering. Numerous writers endeavor to have their books assessed by an expert in light…

Art Work and Bum Fuzz

Posted by scott owen on May 5, 2017 at 17:15 0 Comments

My Bum Fuzz unit just arrived in California along with some plectrums with Edwin art. It took me along time to order this unit, but the twenty five year gestation period for it to be built surely eclipses my lack of urgency. Best regards all...

A while back I asked Edwyn if he would let me use his music on a little film I made.  Here is the result: Mill Mechanics

Thanks for that.
