This incredible woman describes so eloquently her experience of a brain haemorrhage. Edwyn has often amazed me with his halting but very moving descriptions of how he felt in the aftermath of his stroke. It intrigues me. Dr Bolte Taylor takes you with her.

did get to your gig.

Audience loved Edwyn Collins

GLASGOW band The 1990s set the tone with enough chutzpah from Jackie McKeown to own up halfway through You're Supposed To Be My Friend: "I'm just going to tune. It'll be better for you, it'll be better for me!".
And stopping the song dead to do it, the band balanced it against a restart that tripped you straight back into the pleasure.
With echoes of Devo – and even glam rock soaking up through The Box, it… Continue

The town of Helmsdale is situated in the county of Sutherland. It's a pretty tourist town and I particularly like the harbour. The locals are friendly which is what you would expect for any northern Scottish town, and the local pubs are also what you would expect (not surprisingly the gaffer of one pub we frequented knew the owners of our local in Groats which is more than 60 miles away!!).
Anyway, off with my tourist board head (although I would… Continue

I am loving Falling and LAughing. Its very well written. Grace Maxwell you've got great style and I like the points that you made-especially as I hope to train as a speech therapist. There is a real searing honesty and strength to your account. I'm glad you wrote it. I think its great. I'm going to be at Deaf Institute Oct 27th, and if it is not annoying for you, will hope to ask you to sigh it. Hope that is ok. All good wishes from Robin Brunskill (voice artist) www.robinbrunskill.com PS We met… Continue

with Edwyn's permission....
...I am back for one last time; I promise to get lost after this.
Well I never; my post got picked up all over the place, The Beeb (and thanks to Stuart and Mark on BBC Radio 2 for the support and wisdom) , The Guardian, lots of others. Several US sites where many people offered to support me if I SUED, which is, I suppose, the American way. But I've been down that road before and it's a long and hard one, especially in the US and France. You may have… Continue

Dear Edwyn and Grace,
I finished the book at last and just wanted to say what an unexpectedly uplifting experience it is. A lovely piece of writing Grace, and some great quotes from Edwyn and Will made me feel involved without intruding, if that makes sense?
The new track I'm Losing Sleep is great Edwyn, any more up your sleeve and is it part of your live set? Talking of which, I cant wait to see the show on Nov 7th at Bloomsbury Theatre. A weekend in London topped off with seeing you… Continue

I've just finishing the best book I've read in years.Desperately sad yet full of smiles.I rediscovered Edwin's wonderful music again and listened to Home Again with a different ear.I would like to thank Grace for finding the words to describe such a difficult time.Having family and friends around you must have been an enourmous strength to both of you.I hope to hear plenty more of Edwins great music and lyrics. If the book hadn't been a library book,I'd have passed it on to friends and… Continue

This is my first post as I only joined this morning, so hello to everyone and I'm really happy to be part of an online community that appreciates the work (and sheer grit) of Edwyn Collins.
This is also my first blog ever, so excuse me if I overstretch myself and end up talking bollox. It's a weird thing to do, expecting someone else to be remotely interested in your life. It's like doing a video journal/diary and having to talk into a camera. It can be awkward. I tried it earlier in… Continue
